The biggest difference between surface learning and deep learning is - Creativity. Deep learning provides you the opportunity to think out of the box. Deep learning is the combination of various tools, techniques and technologies. Deep learning in combination with neurological, cognitive and psychological attributes strengthen the mind and soul of the learners. It encourage the Socratic questioning in place of direct close ended questions. It has ability to create the environment conducive to Dialogic and Discussion based questioning.
Deep learning is the combination of ranges include teaching methods, assessments, feedback and development of transformative pedagogy. Deep learning believes in positive engagement leads towards the positive motivation. Whereas, positive attitude is outcome of positive motivation and, positive motivation is a result of positive engagement of learner. Positive engagement comes from healthy and child-friendly school environment.
Deep learning promotes project based learning. It has ability to grasp the attention of all the learners of the class. It facilitate the teachers with electronic gadgets and social networking through connecting classrooms. It helps the teacher through peer assessment of learner,s work and provide them opportunity to critically evaluate the work of colleagues and mates. Critical thinking boosts up in deep learning classrooms. This peer assessed work has ability to get formative feedback by teacher. Teacher trains their students in this way so that they can easily tackle the bigget problems of real life.
In short, deep learning embeded with critical thinking has revolutionary impacts on neurological and cognitive development of the learners. It facilitates both the teacher and student at every step of their learning. So it is the best time to transform the bulky pedagogical system from surface learning into smart deep learning.
